Deepika Padukone: "Be Honest On Social Media, But One Must Know When To Cut Off"
No two opinions about the fact that Deepika Padukone is someone who leaves you dazed with her confidence, poise, dressing and beauty. This evening, the Piku star participated in the 44th global summit of the International Advertising Association(IAA) at Kochi. Donning a chequered grey pantsuit, Deepika was a picture of confidence. Flared pants, the belt of the coat, hair left open, nude lipstick understated make-up- it was all so perfect.

Interestingly, Deepika opened up about trolling and social media. "I'm sure I get trolled but its not in my nature to react to negative things. Be honest and be real on social media. Also, it is not necessary to engage in every conversation. My social media posts are authentic and mean something to me. Social media is a great way for me to engage with my fans and know what's happening in the world but one must know when to cut off."

At the event, Deepika also spoke about her next film Chappak, directed by Meghna Gulzar (whose last film Raazi was unarguably the best film of 2018), based on the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. "The business of cinema doesn't excite me as much as how this medium can reach out and influence people so well."

And, goes without saying that Deepika is in the happiest phase of her life. She has given a string of performances- Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat- which have been simply superb, and all these films have run to glory. Importantly, she has married the love of her life- Ranveer Singh. Meet Singh and he gets so emotional talking about her. The amount that he cares for her is to be seen to be believed.

Alongside her acting career, Deepika often takes part in stage shows, has written columns for an Indian newspaper, endorses several brands, and is vocal about issues such as feminism and depression. She has designed her own clothing line for women, is the chairperson of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image, and is the founder of the Live Love Laugh Foundation which creates awareness on mental health in India. Deepika took over as Chairperson of MAMI when Kiran Rao stepped down from the post she had held since 2014, the year Shyam Benegal resigned and MAMI was revived from a sad state of affairs. A Mumbai Mirror report said that Deepika's  “notable evolution into a credible actor, her connect with the youth, and her incredible work to create awareness about mental health” was the key reason why she was selected for the coveted post.
